Every piece we make at Southwest Distinctions starts with a sketch — a new motif Don wants to try, a color palette Barb’s been turning over in her head, a story from the desert we want to put into leather. This page is where those designs land first, whether they’re belts, dog collars, or guitar straps.

You’ll find our newest releases here as soon as they’re ready. Right now that’s a fresh wave of hand-beaded Western belts — Apache Gold, Tucson, Cave Creek, Frontier Feather, Western Horizon Arrow, and a tribute to our home base, Gold Canyon Trail. Each one is drawn from the landscape and culture of the American Southwest, and each one is made the same way every piece in our catalog has been made for over three decades.

That process: each bead is strung on a needle and woven onto the loom by hand. The bead strip is then inlaid between two pieces of premium Hermann Oak leather — the same vegetable-tanned American leather our customers know us for — and stitched into a finished piece with a hidden stitch groove that protects the thread from decades of wear. Whether it’s a belt, a collar, or a strap, the construction is the same: built one at a time to last.

Everything here is custom-made to your measurement. Browse the new designs below; once you find one that speaks to you, choose your size, your leather color, and place your order. We’ll handcraft it from scratch in our Gold Canyon, Arizona studio and ship it as soon as it’s ready — typically 3-4 weeks, since every piece is made to order, never pulled from inventory.
