Don and Barb Mohr
One workshop.
Two hands at work.
Southwest Distinctions grew from a love of the Old West, the patience of traditional leatherwork, and a belief that the things we use can carry a story.

Rooted in craft.
In 1988, Don and Barb began taking their leatherwork to Quarter Horse shows in Oklahoma City and Fort Worth. Don had learned from an old-time saddlemaker. Barb had taught herself the art of loom beading through books, practice, and persistence.
They eventually made their way to the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, where Southwest Distinctions continues today. Don designs and handcrafts each collar, belt, guitar strap, and piece of gun leather. Barb creates the beadwork, bringing color, pattern, and remarkable detail to every design.
They work side by side from the first sketch to the finished piece, so the leather, beadwork, fit, and finish belong together.
